Bayside Illumination Festival
This was a project we put together for the inaugural Bayside Illumination festival. The brief was to simply to provide an ambient backdrop to the community driven event.
Without a specific design brief, we suggested that inviting local children and schools to enter a coloring-in competition that would then be mapped onto the building would drive attendances and promote awareness of the event.
With this agreed upon, we mapped the building and created an entry form matched to the architecture. This was then distributed to the local schools and anyone who wanted to participate.
The entries were digitized and added to a data base. On the night, this was then fed into a piece of software we created that mapped the artwork onto the building while also displaying their names automatically from the database. Advertising elements from local sponsors were also included at specified times along with some animated sequences we threw in to add extra life to the piece.
It is also worth mentioning that in order to reduce the costs to the new event, we utilized a series of our in house projectors and equipment, thus eliminating rental costs that are usually associated with this type of event. We have found that this is especially important for the small to medium jobs.
